When your car was newly bought, you cannot help but stare at it every minute. Do you remember the days when you used to parade and cruise around the city to make other people see how gorgeous your new vehicle was? The paint was shiny, your seats were soft, and everything was beautiful. But as years pass by, you will notice scratches, dents, and chipped pain. Cars have their own "expiration dates". Time will come when you will have to say goodbye to your car and get another one. But you can prevent this. Processes such as car valeting and detailing can restore the beauty of your car.
No matter how careful or cautious in driving your car, there are many different factors that will have a significant effect on the appearance of your car. The paint will lose its shine and luster, and eventually will fade because of the changing weather temperatures. Direct sunlight, snow, and rain can affect the car paint as well. The reason for this is that most manufacturers of cars create cars that have thin coats of paint. Even though the paint that they used has anti-corrosion and scratch-resistant properties, time will come wherein your pain will chip and shed off. The same goes for the bumper and the other parts of the car, the paint will come off as years pass by.
The first step in detailing or valeting your car or even paint scratch repair is to evaluate the type of paint used on your car. Remove any contaminants such as oil, dust, and grime. Clean the exterior of your car as thoroughly as possible. You can use a car shampoo and water to remove the unwanted dirt. After, use a chamois to polish off the car and make sure that no water droplets will be left behind.
If you have tried to do all this but there is still tar, you can use bug and tar removers to remove any stain that got stuck on the paint of your car. You can usually purchase this from car shops. Or you may opt to use a clay bar. This bar is commonly used by many professional car detailers because it is very useful in removing the stains without damaging your car's paint.
After using the clay bar, remove the clay residue from your car then apply a grade car wax. An alternative to this is a liquid polisher compound or carnauba fat. This will give your car a thin coating that will promote shine, depth, and luster.
If you want to achieve chrome-like shine, you may also make use of chrome refinishing products. All you have to do is to simply spray it on damaged chrome to make it look brand new. At the same time, it will recondition your car's coat to prevent damages.
One important aspect in car detailing is the cleaning of the engine. If you are not sure of how you are going to detail your engine, you can purchase engine detailer kits that you can easily use. They will teach you how to remove dirt and grease with a special product. And the second detailer will help you shine your car's engine like it came out from the showroom.
Although I'll speak about it in another thread, one thing that's definately worth considering is Alloy Wheel repair. This can be done cheaply or expensively, obviously I'm a fan of the cheap (but good) methods!
Lastly, in cleaning the interior of your car you have to get a vacuum cleaner to remove the dirt from the carpet as well as the seats. Clean the seat covers as well, and in no time your car is ready to travel again.
